Defrauding the Dental Practice: An overview (AGD 550)

Employee theft and embezzlement is common in healthcare, with approximately over $25 billion annually lost in practice offices from theft and misappropriation of resources by various team members. This webinar will cover an overview of what to look for and steps in proactive prevention from a risk management standpoint.

Learning Objectives:  

  1. Investigate the types of fraud that can occur in a dental practice,
  2. Understand why fraud occurs and for what to look.
  3. Explore employee traits for fraudulent activities.
  4. Identify ways to minimize the possibility for embezzlement with smart hiring practices.
  5. Facilitate the termination process of a suspected employee.

Guest Speaker: Natalie Kaweckyj, BA, LDA, RF, CDA, CDPMA, COA, COMSA, CPFDA, CRFDA, CDIPC, MADAA 

Natalie Kaweckyj is a licensed and multi-certified dental assistant from Minneapolis as well as a Past President of the American Dental Assistants Association. As a busy clinician in public health dentistry, Natalie finds time to share her passion for dentistry not only lecturing nationally, but internationally as well, in addition to developing continuing education courses, writing articles and being a key opinion leader in the dental assisting profession with her 30 years of experience. Natalie believes in making learning fun and uses various approaches to engage her audiences.

Refund and Cancellation Policy:  The American Dental Assistants Association (ADAA) reserves the right to cancel any course should circumstances warrant such action. In the event the course is canceled, the ADAA will refund the full tuition. If you cancel your registration for this program, the ADAA will refund the tuition minus a $10 administrative cancellation fee. We must receive your cancellation request in writing, via e-mail to snichols@adaausa.org 7 business days prior to the program. No refunds if less than 7 business days.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the standards of the Academy of General Dentistry Program Approval for Continuing Education (PACE) through the joint program provider approval of the American Dental Assistants Association (ADAA) and the Professional Dental Assistants Education Foundation (PDAEF). The American Dental Assistants Association (ADAA) is approved for awarding FAGD/MAGD credit.

The ADAA cautions participants taking this course on the hazards of using limited knowledge when integrating new techniques into their practices.

Dental professionals can learn about silver diamine fluoride (SDF), a safe, cost-effective, and minimally invasive tool to treat and prevent cavities, in a three-part webinar series with 2 available CEs!

Hosted by Elevate Oral Health in partnership with Catalyst, the webinars aim to increase knowledge and use of SDF, allow providers to work at the top of their license, and understand how to integrate SDF into primary care and dental settings.

This three-part educational webinar series about Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) aims to encourage awareness and acceptance while enabling a minimally invasive dentistry focus. The webinar series provides an opportunity to educate Dentists, Dental Hygienists, and all clinical staff about the importance of SDF, incorporating SDF into clinical practice focusing on clinical protocols, consent, documentation, billing, and delegation/scope of practice.

SDF webinar series aims to encourage:

∙ Encourage Dental Hygienists to work to the top of their license
