With cyber-attacks on the rise across dentistry, including at the ADA, what can you do to protect your patients and practice from being another victim? This 1-hour presentation will discuss common sense activities as the saying goes “to be prepared!”
- Review basic HIPAA requirements for electronic dental records
- Discuss cybersecurity, ransomware, and phishing
Guest Speaker: Ann-Marie DePalma, CDA, RDH, MEd
Ann-Marie C. DePalma, CDA, RDH, MEd, CDIPC, FADIA, FAADH is a graduate of the Forsyth School for Dental Hygienists, Northeastern University, and the University of Massachusetts Boston. She is the 2017 Esther Wilkins Distinguished Alumni of Forsyth Award recipient. Ann-Marie has been published in dental and dental hygiene publications and textbooks. She has been a clinical hygienist and assistant, educator, consultant, corporate trainer, and currently a software customer success manager, as well as a national continuing education speaker.

Refund and Cancellation Policy: The American Dental Assistants Association (ADAA) reserves the right to cancel any course should circumstances warrant such action. In the event the course is canceled, the ADAA will refund the full tuition. If you cancel your registration for this program, the ADAA will refund the tuition minus a $10 administrative cancellation fee. We must receive your cancellation request in writing, via e-mail to snichols@adaausa.org 7 business days prior to the program. No refunds if less than 7 business days.
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the standards of the Academy of General Dentistry Program Approval for Continuing Education (PACE) through the joint program provider approval of the American Dental Assistants Association (ADAA) and the Professional Dental Assistants Education Foundation (PDAEF). The American Dental Assistants Association (ADAA) is approved for awarding FAGD/MAGD credit.
The ADAA cautions participants taking this course on the hazards of using limited knowledge when integrating new techniques into their practices.
The Professional Dental Assistants Education Foundation has provided funding for this live activity.

This course will take place on the Zoom Webinar meeting platform. This meeting will be one (1) hour in length.
