July 1 marked the start of the second half of 2018. Looking back, how was the first half of this year for you, personally and professionally? What did you do well … and what do you wish you would have done better? July is a great time to hit the reset button and start anew. What goals do you have for the rest of the year? How are you going to get there? I believe strongly in the power of “mile markers.” These are the small steps along the way toward a bigger goal … steps that help you know you’re on the right path.
Know your goal and set a plan to get there. It’s a great way to enter 2019 with a sense of accomplishment … and a desire to set even bigger goals.

My dear friend Tija Hunter, CDA, EFDA, CDIA, CDSO, MADAA, was my guest on a recent Dental Assistant Nation podcast. We sat down together while at a meeting in San Antonio and talked about her short but effective Facebook video that went viral and received so many amazing comments from assistants. It discussed the true power of the assistant when it comes to purchasing products or influencing which products come into the practice. It also discussed how dental assistants are often “shooed away” from booths at trade shows because of the color of the badges.
