Let’s face it. We know patients don’t exactly look forward to coming into the dental practice … so anything that we can do to put their mind at ease is a worthy investment of our time and resources.
IgniteDA recently teamed up with Hu-Friedy on a series of videos directed to the dental assistant on infection control. In one of the videos, I discuss my time in Tulsa, Okla., during an infection control breach at a dental practice that made national headlines. In the days that followed, dental practices in the area took extra precautions to make sure their patients felt comfortable in their businesses.
But why should that stop when the news dies down? Why shouldn’t dental professionals continue to educate their patients on the steps they take every day to ensure their safety? A simple and quick tour of your infection control center can make a huge impact in their mindset and put them even more at ease that they’ve chosen the right (and safe) place for their dental care.
In this video, I talk about infection control and how it can put your patients’ minds at rest before they settle in your chair. It’s a small gesture that can make a huge impact.
Check it out and see if it’s something that could work in your practice.
I was recently honored to travel to South Africa to lead the dental assisting track at the South African Dental Association’s annual meeting. It was the first time that assistants had ever had their own track at the SADA meeting and I was thrilled to be a part of it. Great things are ahead for the assistants of that country!
Before I left, I wrote this article for Dental Assisting Digest (DAD) about the similarities between assistants in the United States and South Africa. There is more that unites us than divides us, and my trip halfway around the globe reinforced that even more to me.
How can you get your free copy of DAD? It’s simple. Click here and sign up for Dental Assisting Digest. You will get your copy of DAD, powered by IgniteDA, every month. No spam and no strings attached. Join us in this venture designed just for you!
I can’t wait to see you online in the IgniteDA community or at one of our in-person live events. It is going to be an awesome rest of the year!
